Fitness For Kids Is As Easy As A Roll Of The Dice

How do you get kids up off the couch and being active? By masking your hidden agenda with a fun activity!

Take Activity Dice for example: Arm one small box with numbers and another with specific activities for a child to do. Activities can be anything from jumping jacks, high jumps, push-ups, spins, and anything else fun you can think of! With so many options, the kids will keep entertained for a long time. 5 jumping jacks, 2 cartwheels, 1 spin …

You don’t even need to be crafty to make the dice. Simply take two small boxes and turn them into dice by labeling one with numbers and the second with moving activities (being slightly crafty myself, I covered mine with colorful tape and used sharpies to write the words). Then roll!

The kids will have so much fun, they won’t even know its hidden payoffs. Every time my nephews come over, they play with the dice. On a recent camping trip, all the kids (five in all) played with the dice for over an hour, taking turns and trying their best at some of the harder prompts like cartwheels. And, in a funny twist, the adults got into it when trying to show the kids how to do cartwheels and correct pushups!

This entertaining activity can help in more ways than just getting kids up and moving. It helps with coordination, counting, and reading. It can even be a rewarding way to get the whole family playing and moving together.

So, give it a shot, or roll I should say!
