When driving down the road, do you often have the urge to weave in and out of the dashed yellow line? Or do you test yourself at how fast and tight you can take turns? Maybe your foot automatically pushes all the way to the floor on a straight stretch?

If you thought any of these sounded like you, then maybe it is time to take your car from routine daily commutes and into some fun car sports!

Now, you may be thinking: “But my car is nothing special.’ That’s OK! Most of these events have classes for all types of cars, including plain ol’ stock. And anyway, it’s all about having the freedom and ability to see what your car is all about the fun (and legal) way. You will not be disappointed!

Here are 5 things you can do with your car:

Autocross-

Test your skill and you car’s handling ability in an all-around exciting event.  Beginners are welcome and it is open to all street legal cars.

Hillclimbs-

Curvy, up-hill, public roads offer a great setting for hillclimbs! Event hosts close off the road for the day allowing drivers to test their skills around tight corners, rock walls, and sheer cliffs.

The local Willamette Motor Club (http://www.wmclub.org/hillclimb.shtml) hosts hillclimbs throughout the area. The next event is coming up in September 2013 out at the Gorge.

Drags-

Like short, fast, driving? Then a drag race is perfect for you!

The Woodburn Dragstrip (http://www.woodburndragstrip.com/ ) offers a large variety of events for all levels and cars. Get your car over 100 MPH during the Friday Night Fun Drags and you get to join the special 100 MPH Club!

Rally-

Race against the clock or test your brain in a game of wits and speed through back roads, either way, your adrenaline will be pumping.
