The Portland Stags earned their 3rd victory of the season and 2nd vs the San Francisco Dogfish at Doc Harris Stadium in front of a jubilant crowd. If the Stags haven’t earned the recognition from league after surpassing their win total from 2013 in last week’s affair, I believe the entire MLU is now taking notice after the convincing 21-17 triumph in Camas, Washington.
The Stags poured it on in the 4th quarter and had an answer for every Dogfish run, to culminate their 2nd straight victory over San Francisco sitting alone at the top of the Western Conference.
Cody Bjorklund was named player of the game, racking up 2 goals, 1 assist, and 2 monstrous D’s. The Ex Rainmaker Burton added 3 goals and Jeremy Norden chipped in 5 assists for the undefeated Stags.

The legendary disc coach Justin Safdie had his defense looking nasty with some doubles and zone, taking full advantage of Stag mistakes to tie the game up at 15. The Dogfish committed three infractions in a row that became catastrophic, negating the fabulous comeback and allowing the Stags to score 4 unanswered points.
Ten men down proved to be too much, even for the well coached 2013 Western Champions. They fought hard and kept the game close, but the late scratch from Captain Evan Boucher made it very challenging to sustain a long run.
Sam Adamson did everything in his power to upstage brother Aaron. He scored 5 goals, had 1 assist, and 3 remarkable defensive plays that still wasn’t enough to get the Dogfish back in the win column.
Trailing by 1 going into the final quarter, the Dogfish went for broke with long deep throws to attempt to catch Portland off-guard. Unfortunately for San Francisco, it resulted in highlight defensive plays for the Stags, led by Cody Bjorklund, that helped seal the victory.
The Dogfish are back in action today taking on the Rainmakers in Renton to complete their weekend doubleheader. Portland has a bye next week before battling Seattle at home on May 17th.
