Abe Asher’s College Football Picks – Week Nine

nhlkidsmaximetalbot1

Another incredibly mediocre 8-4 week put my season record at 71-29; but there was only one major takeaway for the seven devoted followers of this space.

I didn’t pick the Oregon game.

And I’d like to blame ESPN. You’ll never know why.

Here are the week nine picks.

Oregon 51, California 20 – Cal coach Sonny Dykes told John Canzano this week that Berkley’s education is preferable for recruits to the Ducks’ uniforms.

Okay, Sonny. Okay.

Kansas State 34, Texas 13 – No one was scared of K-State until the Big XXI fired up Bill Snyder by telling him which jackets he could and couldn’t wear. That was a season-changer.

Mississippi State 41, Kentucky 21 – The CBS crew has hit Starkville, Lexington, and Oxford this year for its SEC game of the week. Clearly they’ll go anywhere except a Vanderbilt home game.

Michigan State 37, Michigan 10 – I’m just waiting for the Michigan rematch with Appalachian State.

TCU 44, Texas Tech 7 – Gary Patterson’s team crushing Kliff Kingsbury’s should remind all you kids that looks aren’t everything.

West Virginia 41, Oklahoma State 31 – Know that I just deleted a bad Clint Trickett joke here.

Stanford 21, Oregon State 13 – Should be a shootout!

Ole Miss 34, LSU 21 – The great thing about this season is more people have said, “I can’t wait for the Egg Bowl” in the last three weeks than last one hundred years.

Alabama 45, Tennessee 10 – Rocky topped.

Auburn 41, South Carolina 24 – It seems to me after losing to Kentucky the South Carolina football program disappeared for about a month. Good to see they have an easy to game to get back into the swing of things.

Ohio State 35, Penn State 13 – Before the Sandusky scandal, these OSU-PSU games in Happy Valley were epic. Now, they’re mostly sad.

USC 34, Utah 28 – They’ve beaten a dreadful UCLA team by two and a similarly dreadful Oregon State team in overtime, and they’re one of the best teams in the Pac-12? I don’t think so, Utah.

Arizona State 45, Washington 13 – Guess what, Washington. Kenny Wheaton scored.
