Abe Asher’s College Football Picks – Week Twelve

pony

We’re up to week twelve of the college football season, and the playoff picture is beginning to clear up. It looks like any one-loss SEC team, Oregon, Florida State, and TCU will be in the playoff if they can keep winning through the start of December.

Last week saw me post a legitimately terrible 4-6 record, putting my season mark at 96-41. Here are the picks.

Ohio State 45, Minnesota 23 – It’s a fascinating coaching matchup in this game between Urban Meyer, who has struggled with deep and debilitating depression, and Jerry Kill, who suffers from frequent seizures. Best to both men.

Clemson 24, Georgia Tech 17 – Congratulations to the ACC on being so boring that this is the first ACC game I’ve picked all year not involving Florida State.

Alabama 34, Mississippi State 27 – Colin Cowherd on Dak Prescott: “I’m not buying Dak Prescott at all. At All. He’s like Tebow-lite.”

Arizona 35, Washington 17 – I know this quote doesn’t have anything to do with this game, but I loved that when he was asked about the UNC academic fraud scandal, Butch Davis said, “If you want an education, go to Harvard.”

Nebraska 41, Wisconsin 31 – Maybe people would take Nebraska seriously if they played in a real conference, like, oh I don’t know, the Big XII?

Notre Dame 34, Northwestern 3 – The Wildcats lost last week to Michigan by a score of 10-9 when their quarterback fell over going for the game-winning two-point conversion.

Stanford 23, Utah 20 – I think the Utes should just forfeit the rest of the season.

Georgia 41, Auburn 34 – Todd Gurley is back for this game, and since Auburn cashed in last year and won’t have anymore good luck until 2019, I’m going with Georgia.

Texas A&M 38, Missouri 20 – I have some news, and it might come as a bit of a shock: Texas A&M was just joking when they lost 59-0 to Alabama.

Texas 31, Oklahoma State 17 – You think the Big XII is good this year? Wait until these two programs bounce back into contention next year.

Florida State 44, Miami 20 – If the Canes lose this game, they will have lost four or more games in every season since 2005.

LSU 21, Arkansas 20 – That loss last weekend for the Tigers was gut-wrenching – after they beat Ole Miss in similarly gut-wrenching fashion the week before. That’s life in the SEC.

Arizona State 45, Oregon State 14 – Remember when everyone made fun of Todd Graham for leaving Pitt after one year to go to ASU? He’s the one laughing now.
