RECORD LAST WEEK: 8-10
OVERALL: 146-100-3
Before I start, an update on my own squad, which made it to the semi-finals of my league. Aaron Rodgers had his worst night of the season, and I lost. No one is perfect, but I’m happy to have gotten that far in a 12-team league. Those of you who remain are competing for your titles, so use this advice and of course, think for yourself, and hopefully you can bring home the trophy.
Tennessee at Jacksonville
Start: Nate Washington, WR, TEN
Fighting the battle of who could care less. Both teams looked like they wanted the season to be over last week. Nate Washington led the Titans in receiving last week, and is as good of option as any here.
Sit: Toby Gerhart, RB, JAX
While the Titans run defense is not great, do you really want to trust a running back whose late season claim to fame is that he had 54 yards, a season-high?
Philadelphia at Washington
Start: LeSean McCoy, RB, PHI
Mark Sanchez is under center again, and he has looked awful his last two games. While the Redskins are not as good as Dallas or Seattle, you cannot trust anyone on either team outside of McCoy right now.
Sit: Alfred Morris, RB, WSH
Despite a rotating quarterback situation in which no one is sure who is going to throw the ball, Morris still managed only six yards on eight carries. Yikes.
San Diego at San Francisco
Start: 49ers Defense
They are third in the league versus the pass, eighth against the run, and the Chargers offense is out of sync after games versus New England and Denver.
Sit: Keenan Allen, WR, SD
Tough matchup for Allen, and after Mychal Rivera lit up the Niners, you can imagine most of the throws from Philip Rivers will head towards Antonio Gates.
Detroit at Chicago
Start: Matthew Stafford, QB, DET
The Bears are in complete shutdown mode right now. Stafford will be able to do what he pleases at Soldier Field.
Sit: Alshon Jeffrey, WR, CHI
No Brandon Marshall, an offensive coordinator in tears, and Jay Cutler playing as bad as he has ever played. Why would you go here?
Minnesota at Miami
Start: Matt Asiata, RB, MIN
Asiata has returned to action, and had a good night running and recieving last week. With Miami 22nd versus the run, you can have worse options.
Sit: Mike Wallace, WR, MIA
He had a super game against the Patriots, but remember he had less than 40 yards in three of the previous four games.
Baltimore at Houston
Start: Arian Foster, RB, HOU
His groin injury is not slowing him down, and he is still the focal point of the Texans attack.
Sit: Joe Flacco, QB, BAL
J.J. Watt is salivating over an Edger Allen Poe book. That is not a good sign for Flacco, especially after the near loss to the hapless Jaguars.
Cleveland at Carolina
Start: Panthers Defense
In case you missed Johnny Manziel’s debut, you can catch a replay Sunday in Charlotte.
Sit: Johnny Manziel, QB, CLE
The game did not get any easier, and the Panthers have a scarier defense than the Bengals.
Atlanta at New Orleans
Start: Roddy White, WR, ATL
Julio Jones returns, but White has the better health, and is the better option.
Sit: Mark Ingram, RB, NO
Against the worst pass defense in the NFL, I expect to see Brees air it out more than usual. Ingram might get some work if the Saints turn it into a laugher, but I expect him to have less than 15 carries.
Green Bay at Tampa Bay
Start: Aaron Rodgers, QB, GB
He is coming off the worst start of his career, but the Tampa Bay defense is a cakewalk compared to the Buffalo defense.
Sit: Josh McCown, QB, TB
He won a shocker versus the Packers the last time he faced them, but I doubt Rodgers is going to get hurt again. Stay away.
Kansas City at Pittsburgh
Start: Jamaal Charles, RB, KC
While the Steelers rank 11th versus the run, they have given up a lot of yards against worse running attacks over the last two weeks. The Falcons averaged 4.9 yards per carry despite their entire running crew having been declared legally dead.
Sit: Heath Miller, TE, PIT
With Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown eating up the production, yards and scores are few and far between for Miller, especially against the Kansas City linebackers.
Seattle at Arizona
Start: Seahawks Defense
Ryan Lindley is not a long-term success option. Logan Thomas is not much better. Andre Ellington is out for the year. Bad day to be on the Cardinals offensive unit.
Sit: Larry Fitzgerald, WR, ARZ
Lindley is going to have his eyes focused on the back of Fitzgerald’s head all day long. The Seahawks secondary will have him smothered all day long.
