If there’s one thing I’ve learned since starting this blog it’s that JR is the man. If we’re talking about two things I’ve learned, the second would undoubtedly be that Bryan Murray is a fickle, angry man who has a personal crusade against whiners while, in the process, whines a lot himself. It all makes sense in his reality, I imagine.
But Murray has had a funny little charade going on the past few months. As you probably heard, Dany Heatley asked for a trade back in June. A trade, which, he has yet to receive. And now, he’s starting to look like the bad guy in this situation. I guess with Murray and Heats involved there really is no ‘good guy’ but after yesterday’s press conference that Heatley held it sounds as though A) he’s a big baby and B) he’s trapped in some kind of Bryan Murray created hockey purgatory. That’s a place no one wants to be.
“I think (the Heatley camp) believed that I would present them with four teams who were willing to give Ottawa a package (for Heatley), and he could pick and choose from them,” said Murray. “That has not been the case by any means.”
Yeah, he’s definetly stuck in Bryan Murray’s own personal toy box.
And congrats to Heatley for hold the whiniest press conference in the history of press conferences. Here are some highlights:
“Over the last two years and more recently over the past year, I feel my role was diminished. This past season, it diminished a lot more.”
He had the second most ice-time on the team.
“I have nothing against the fans of Ottawa, or the city of Ottawa. I would like the opportunity to go somewhere where I can play to the best of my capabilities and be the player that I can be.”
He has nothing against the fans, but F this team anyway.
It goes on and on, blah, blah, blah, read on if you want to be bored to death.
