It was only a few weeks ago the NFL world was up in arms over the New England Patriots getting off to a “horrible” 2-2 start. Three games later, the would-be declining Tom Brady looks as good as ever and his Pats are looking quite strong at 5-2. Time can cure all, it seems, but the same may not be able to be said for the Chicago Bears, who visit Foxboro with a 3-4 record in Week 8. In fact, there is rumored to be a rift between Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, one that could even stretch as far as dividing the team. While that’s for the media to spin, it’s a storyline that will still be analyzed as these two teams prepare to square off on Sunday.
A little drama adds to the hype of a pretty interesting matchup, which helps make Patriots tickets the second most expensive secondary market draw on the NFL schedule in Week 8. The average price for Patriots vs Bears tickets is $359.38, which is 24% above the season average for Patriots tickets this year at Gillette Stadium. Brady and the Pats will try to remain undefeated at home in 2014, while the Bears try to stay alive in the race for the NFC North.
It doesn’t look great for Chicago, as Cutler and his cast of stud passing weapons are forced to take on the league’s best pass defense, led by Darrelle Revis. In fact, Chicago’s only real shot is for Matt Forte to run wild and the defense to somehow shake Brady from his current state of supreme confidence.
Forte could easily find success against New England’s spotty run defense, and probably will to a certain degree, but Chicago’s lackluster defense coming up big on the road is far less of a lock. Instead, Brady is likely to come up big with more precision passing, dropping a fourth straight stellar performance to build the Pats up to a solid 6-2 mark as Week 8 draws to a close.
