Some of the AAC Football Fever staff members have been hand selected to give their weekly picks for each American Athletic Conference game.
Blake Lovell, Mitch Wilcox, Jay Saunders, John Nestor, Zach Rastall, Al Burke, and Michael Compton will test their knowledge by contesting me each and every week for bragging rights (and maybe a gratifying pat on the back) at the end of the season.
As I so aptly described in the first edition of our AAC staff power rankings, it was an abysmal weekend for the second-year conference (which was ranked No. 6 out of 10 in a recent list conducted by ESPN). Temple was the lone victor, blowing out AAC foe Connecticut, 36-10.
With conference play setting to start full-swing for nearly every member, things almost have to get better—we’ll at least start to see some separation between the upper tier teams, such as Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF, and Houston.
There’s such a small sample size this week that it certainly can’t get any worse than it was in Week 5.
