The Islanders beat the Rangers 2-1 last night in the first game of a home-and-home that culminates tonight, but that’s not the reason for this post. In Botta’s post-game report on his blog, I saw an interesting little note…
The first sustained “Fire Sather” chant of the season. Oh brother. (By the way, can it be more obvious that Mark Messier is going to be the next Rangers GM?)
Now, I don’t really follow the Rangers so this is the first I’ve heard of any sort of Messier-to-GM talk. I’m probably just really out of the loop or it could be sort of tongue-in-cheek. Doesn’t really matter which to me. Anyway, as the loyal readers here know, this would be comedy gold for this blog. And by “comedy gold” I mean something to the effect of “OMG!!1!, all my wildest dreams come true!!” I love to hate on Mess and whether or not any team he runs succeeds or fails it might simply cause this blog to collapse in on itself. And the tears. Good Lord, think of the tears!
And yeah this finally gave me a reason to post this picture.
In other news I’m going to be sitting behind the Rangers bench at the Rangers/Islanders game tonight. If Torts jumps over the glass and goes into the stands, you’ll know who’s to blame. Also, check the Twitter feed for live updates if anything interesting happens.
