I suck at keeping up with the Passion.
They lost to the DC Divas last weekend, 27-7. Since women’s football information is so hard to come by on the Internet, I’ll let the Washington Informer do the rest.
Next door to the home of the Washington Redskins, the Washington Divas, the most successful women’s football team in the Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL) crushed the visiting Pittsburgh Passion 27-7 in their home debut on Sat. May 2 before 1,000 plus spectators, at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex in Landover.
Divas’ quarterback Allyson Hamlin connected with Nikki Williams and Donna Wilkinson on touchdown passes, and running backs Tiffany Mathews and La Shawn Foust each rushed for a touchdown as the Divas (3-0) kept their perfect record intact with a convincing victory against their arch rivals in the IWFL. Pittsburgh (2-1) failed to score until fullback Laura Bracco plowed forward from four yards out with less than two minutes remaining in the contest.
“I’ve been coaching for 20 years and this is the best feeling that I’ve ever had,” said Divas’ first-year coach Keith Howard.
The record is now 2-1. Bye week this weekend.
