Congrats to the Pittsburgh Mighty Penguins Intermediate Sled Hockey team, who over the weekend finished 2nd in their division in the 6th Annual USA Hockey Disabled Festival. The NHL Pens just finished their season second in the division as well…I’m sensing a trend.
After, the Mighty Penguins took a cool picture with the Stanley Cup, which still belongs to the NHL Pens for like another 24 hours. I thought this picture was cool, because of the logo on the jerseys. The Pens famously switched from the skating penguin logo to this triangular, pigeon-shaped one right after winning the second of back-to-back Cups in the early ’90s. They didn’t win the Cup again until switching back the skating penguin in the 2000s. So if you think about it, this is probably the first time a group of Penguins players with that logo on their chest got a team picture with the Cup.
Oh, and if you find yourself near the Bladerunners complex on April 17th, stop by the Mighty Penguins’ annual fundraiser, which goes towards new equipment and stuff. Show love, and Go Pens!
