Tony Parker is having another wonderful season for Gregg Popovich and the Spurs. Am I surprised? Not at all |

Tonight, back home at the Barclays Center, the Nets look to avenge their putrid effort in Friday night's loss to the Washington Wizards by going up against one of the Western Conference's elite, the San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio has beaten the Nets franchise 17 of their last 18 meetings (not a typo), including a New Year's Eve beatdown earlier this season which the Nets' infamous 5-point third quarter.
However, the Spurs team that the Nets saw over a month ago looked much different than the Sours will tonight as both Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan will miss the game with injuries, leaving point guard Tony Parker as the only member of the San Antonio Big Three who will play this evening. Long Island native Danny Green will take Ginobili's spot in the starting lineup and Boris Diaw will take Duncan's.
Both of these teams are coming off tough losses on Friday night, with the Nets falling to the Wizards and the Spurs to the Pistons. For Brooklyn, it just seemed like a game in which they severely underestimated their opponent, an opponent that has been surging since getting John Wall back from injury a few weeks ago. The Nets were destroyed in every aspect of the game by Washington and also shot less than 33 percent from the field, a fact that alone can spell a losing effort for most team. The Spurs were undermanned and outplayed by a desperate Pistons team that needed a win at home in the worst way possible. The result of that was a less-talented team beating one of the best teams in the NBA on effort/health alone, something that happens from time to time.
Probable Lineups
SAS- Parker (PG), Danny Green (SG), Leonard (SF), Diaw (PF), Splitter (C)
BKN- D-Will (PG), Johnson (SG), Wallace (SF), Evans (PF), Lopez (C)
Final Thoughts
Obviously, there are never any guarantees in this league, referenced by the Wizards dominating the probably playoff-bound Nets. But, the Spurs are very shorthanded tonight and aren't nearly as potent as they normally are. Should be a Nets win, but that's why you play the game.
