Springfield Armor trade James Mays to the Maine Red Claws for Kris Joseph
Joseph was drafted 51st overall out of Syracuse by the Celtics in last year's draft

Earlier yesterday, the Nets D-League affiliate, the Springfield Armor, made a relatively minor trade by giving up James Mays, who is leading the D-League in double-doubles, to the Maine Red Claws for Kris Joseph, a small forward who played at Syracuse. The deal, which doesn't grant the Nets Joseph's rights, gives the Armor another front-court scorer to help them with their massive scoring troubles that they have faced this season.

Joseph could be called up to the big-league Nets later this season and the fact that the Nets basically run the Armor's operations could clue into that Brooklyn is meaning to bring Joseph up for a closer look. It has been well-documented how little production the Nets have gotten from the small forward spot this season so the acquisition of Joseph by the Armor could be an attempt by Billy King to bring some more talent at the position into the organization.
