Reggie don't care. Reggie gets 26 rebounds and scores 22 points in 35 minutes of play |
Coming off a near-loss to the hapless Suns this past Sunday, the Nets knew they had to make a statement tonight in Portland as they progress on through their long circus road trip. And what a statement did they make. Building a 20-point, 37-17 lead after the first quarter, Brooklyn rolled to one of its easiest wins of the entire season, going up by as much as 30 points at one point as the Nets–without Joe Johnson, due to the leg contusion he suffered against Phoenix–were buoyed by a career-effort from Reggie Evans, tons of scoring from Brook Lopez, and a surprisingly well-rounded performance from Gerald Wallace.
Some other observations I had from the game: #ReggieEvansReboundWatch: 26. Had 10 in the first quarter and added 22 points, for his first-career 20-20 game. I love this guy irrationally. Also, by far the best game he's played in a Nets uniform and possibly the best in his entire NBA career……All Nets starters had a +/- of at least +23. When that happens, it's a good game……Brook destroyed LaMarcus Aldridge in the paint, scoring 28 points with ease on 12-22 shooting. Dude is literally a machine….En route to 12 points, five assists, and six rebounds, Gerald Wallace actually hit layups and shots and stuff, but was 0-for-3 from beyond the three-point-arc. You can't win them all, I guess……One negative: Brooklyn shot 56 percent from the free-throw line. Reggie's 4-for-9 mark from the charity stripe takes the blame for that.
Looking Ahead
The Nets continue their trip as they head to Denver to take on the streaking Nuggets Friday night.
