Whenever Deron Williams returns to Utah to face his former team in the Jazz, the game certainly gets interesting |
When: Saturday, March 30th, 2013
Where: Energy Solutions Arena; Salt Lake City, UT
TV: YES Network
Deron Williams will be playing with a little more of a chip on his shoulder tonight when the Nets take on the Jazz in Utah than he normally does. Granted, whenever the former Jazz player takes on his old team, he feels the urge to perform just a little bit more than when he takes the floor on any game night during the season. However, with his record vs his old employer at 0-3–and his last visit to Utah a disaster (D-Will hit just three of 15 shots on the game last year, a Nets loss), the Illinois grad undoubtedly has something to prove in the arena he used to call home.
In addition to tonight's matchup being important for Deron, it's also crucial for the Nets to win to stay just three games behind the Knicks in the Atlantic Division. New York's lead was expanded to 3.5 games last night as the Knicks beat the Bobcats and the Nets lost to the Nuggets. With a loss in Utah, Brooklyn would slip four games behind the Knicks, a deficit that would be incredibly hard to make up with just nine games remaining for the Nets after tonight's.
Probable Lineups
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Bogans (SG), Wallace (SF), Evans (PF), Lopez (C)
UTA- Mo Williams (PG), Foye (SG), Hayward (SF), Millsap (PF), Jefferson (C)
FInal Thoughts
Coming home to the place and team that drafted you as a basketball player is always hard, but something tells me that the rejuvenated Deron Williams will be able to put that emotion aside and lead his team to a much-needed Western Conference win.
