The Barclays Center will be popping tonight, rightfully so, for the Nets' 1st playoff game since 2007 |
With the Brooklyn Nets' 1st-ever playoff game just over six hours away, Brooklyn Balling's pregame coverage is just beginning. After this massive link dump of all the news surrounding the Nets on this all-important day, I'll be writing an introduction to the series vs the Bulls and later a specific game preview for Game 1. Now, for the Netlinked you've all been waiting for:
First off, we have some injury news. As most expected, Derrick Rose will not be making his season debut this evening, as he is still out, as he has been the whole. There has been some talk that be may return as the series progresses, but there is no concrete evidence that would make such a supposition likely. Also, Bulls center Joakim Noah is doubtful for the game, as a recent setback with his plantar fasciitis may threaten his appearance in the series completely. This news would be great for the Nets, as Noah has always been a real thorn in Brook Lopez's side, on both the offensive and defensive ends.
As the regular season is over, the Nets' official end-of-regular-season and start-of-postseason game notes are out. Tons of cool stats, notes, and info there too. Here's the Bulls one.

If you were worried, Kris Humphries finally was able to make his divorce from Kim Kardashian official, permanently ending the pair's infamous 72-day marriage. Originally, Hump's divorce trial was going to be set in May, during the middle of the NBA playoffs. He had wanted an monetary settlement in the ballpark of $7 million, but left with nothing from his famous ex-wife. Tough day for the Nets' back-up forward.
The Nets will be drafting at #22 overall in the 1st round and at #52 overall in the 2nd round in June's Draft. That looks low, but with the Nets being in the lottery since 2006-07, it's nice to have a low-1st-rounder for the first time in awhile.
Brooklyn will also be giving away free playoff t-shirts, contrary to a report by ESPN/ABC's Darren Rovell, according to a tweet from CEO Brett Yormark.
Finally, this week wasn't a very good one for former Nets coaches, as Byron Scott and Lawrence Frank were each fired by their respective teams, the Cavs and Pistons. Hopefully the Nets' game tonight goes better than Scott's and Frank's job standing.
