Shaun Livingston may have only played 23 minutes tonight, but he nearly garnered a triple-double |
After a lackluster showing in Saturday night's home loss to the Pistons, the Brooklyn Nets blew the 76ers right out of Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Monday night. Brooklyn beat down on the lifeless 76ers, even with many Nets missing the game due to rest or injury.
Shaun Livingston led the way with a flawless shooting night (7-7 FG, 3-3 FT), 17 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, nearly culminating in a rare preseason triple-double. I wasn't able to see firsthand (since the game wasn't televised in New York), but multiple beat writer accounts attest to how masterful and dominant Livingston was. Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson were the other starters who joined in on the scoring parade, scoring 17 and 18 respectively. The Sixers had no answer for the Nets' top five, even if two starters were replacements.
Brooklyn hit 14 three-pointers on the evening as well as Chris Johnson (five threes, 21 points) and Mirza Teletovic (five threes, 21 points, seven boards) light it up from beyond the arc. After a scoreless performance versus Detroit, Johnson exhibited why he would be valuable to the Nets with his all-around scoring ability. And Mirza? He just showed us what he was brought over from Europe to do.
Some other observations I had from the game: #ReggieEvansReboundCount: 9. Starting to look like the old Reggie…..I didn't even see one second of this game, and I can tell that 76ers are going to be a terrible team this season. An assertion that surprises and disagrees with nobody.
Looking Ahead
The Nets are back on the grind tomorrow as they head back to Brooklyn to face the Celtics on Tuesday at Barclays.
