After yet another road loss to a subpar opponent, the Brooklyn Nets look to yet again beat a top Eastern Conference team as they take on the undefeated Indiana Pacers tonight at the Barclays Center. The Nets continued their 2013-14 road struggles last night in a loss to the Wizards in Washington but are attempting to even their record at 3-3 on the second night of their first back-to-back of the season.
The Pacers, who soundly beat the Toronto Raptors last night in Indianapolis, are the only remaining unbeaten team in the NBA, and don't appear to be slowing down any time soon. Paul George, in the absence of the injury Danny Granger, has taken over leadership of the team that was just one win away from making the NBA Finals a season ago.
Indiana has a former Net, C.J. Watson, on its solid bench unit, which is anchored by free agent signee Luis Scola, who came to Indiana after one season with the Suns. Chris Copeland, who wowed many as a member of the Knicks last year, was also picked up this summer by Pacers' general manager Kevin Pritchard, whom is one of the most highly-regarded executives in the league.
Probable Lineups
IND- George Hill (PG), Lance Stephenson (SG), Paul George (SF), David West (PF), Roy Hibbert (C)
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Joe Johnson (SG), Paul Pierce (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Brook Lopez (C)
Final Thoughts
The Pacers are streaking right now, and have been very difficult to stop so far this season. Then again, this Brooklyn team beat the defending champion Miami Heat just eight days in Barclays as well, so a win tonight isn't completely out of the realm of possibility. However, the Nets blew a late lead yesterday, leading to an overtime loss. Maybe the energy to start off this one won't be there for Jason Kidd's squad after a long night in our nation's capital. If it isn't, high-powered Indiana might open up the game with a lead big enough to bury Brooklyn before the Nets knew what him them.
