Do or die. That's what this game is for the Nets, as they are down 3-1 to the Miami Heat and are facing elimination, unless they can finally beat the Heat on the road.
Brooklyn, with a chance to tie this series up at 2-2 on Monday night at the Barclays Center, faded away in the fourth quarter to lose a decisive Game 4. LeBron James scored 49 points in another signature playoff performance that was aided by the traditionally questionable calls and non-calls surrounding the superstar from the officiating.
Basically, the Nets have to eschew their poor late game play from Game 4 and take tonight's Game 5 as the important 48-minute affair that it is. This is the Nets' season, and if they come up with another dud, that season is over. This is an older team and who will even be on the squad next year is unknown, which makes tonight even more desperate for Jason Kidd and his players, who want nothing more than to take down Miami.
Probable Lineups
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Shaun Livingston (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Paul Pierce (PF), Kevin Garnett (C)
MIA- Mario Chalmers (PG), Dwyane Wade (SG), LeBron James (SF), Shane Battier (PF), Chris Bosh (C)
Final Thoughts
Objective #1: Control LeBron James. Whether that’s just letting him score 25 points or whatever, the Nets cannot let him control this game like he did last game.
Objective #2: Hit threes. Need I say more?
Objective #3: Rebound the ball. Nothing hurts more than forcing a bad shot on defense but allowing two points off an offensive tip-in.
The Nets do those three things, and they just might surprise the NBA world and win this game and extend this series, sending it back to Brooklyn.]]>
