The Nets are back in the US after a quick sojourn to China as the regular season is just less than two weeks away. That’s really not too far away, but it certainly feels like that.
I wasn’t able to watch, again, (being a college student has it’s ups and down) but yesterday morning, the Nets beat the Sacramento Kings to improve to 3-0 on the preseason. It was an overtime contest and was close throughout (video recap here) but Brooklyn pulled away in the extra frame to win via a score of 129-117. Mirza led the Nets with 22 points on six three-pointers.
Brooklyn next plays the Celtics at Barclays on Sunday afternoon. The game will be the much-talked about 44-minute experiment with just 11-minute quarters.
Marcus Thornton, traded by the Nets this summer to the Celtics in the Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev deal, is doing well with his new team. I liked Marcus on the Nets, and have always admired his playing style (style meaning no consciousness in shot selection) so I hope he does good things in Boston.
We finish up this edition of Netlinked with a great video brought to light by Slam Magazine today. It’s the top ten alley-hoops sent from Jason Kidd to Kenyon Martin when both were on the Nets in the early 2000s. The good ol’ days, some might say.
