The Spurs have won their last 11 home games against the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets, but coming off a five-game losing streak snapping win last night over the Thunder, Lionel Hollins’ would like to make some history tonight.
Kevin Garnett (rest) won’t play for Brooklyn, which swept its season series with Oklahoma City via a 94-92 victory on Friday. Brooklyn was led by a huge bench performance by Jarrett Jack, who provided energy to a lackluster Nets team and poured in 23 points. The injury-riddled Thunder were led by Reggie Jackson and led most of the way but faltered late.
It probably won’t get any easier for the Nets in this one as the Spurs are 8-4 and have won their last three games, most recently last night in a drubbing of the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, San Antonio is missing a few key reserves as Matt Bonner, Patty Mills, Cory Joseph and Tiago Splitter are all out. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, the San Antonio big three of Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker will all play.
Probable Lineups
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Joe Johnson (SG), Bojan Bogdanovic (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Brook Lopez (C)
SAS- Tony Parker (PG), Danny Green (SG), Kawhi Leonard (SF), Boris Diaw (PF), Tim Duncan (C)
Final Thoughts
The Nets can’t really expected to compete a whole ton in this game, which would classify as a schedule sacrifice. Granted, both teams are on the second night of back-to-backs (the Spurs were in Minnesota yesterday) but San Antonio rolled over its opponent last night so its starters rested for the second half. The Nets, who barely won their matchup, didn’t have that luxury. But who knows, maybe the Nets surprise us and win their second game in as many nights.
