Having lost their last two games by more than 20 points, the Nets are even more depleted by injury tonight as they’re in Chicago to take on the Bulls for the second time in a little over a week.

Joe Johnson (flu) and Brook Lopez (back) are both going to miss their second straight game while Mirza Teletovic (hip), who was questionable, is also out. Thankfully for the Nets, though, the Bulls are missing a key player of their own in Joakim Noah (ankle) who is one of Chicago’s many players who always seem to play well against the Nets.

Still, this game is going to be damn near impossible for the Nets to win. The Bulls are a lockdown defensive team and Brooklyn doesn’t have their best swingman scorer (Johnson), interior scorer (Lopez) and three-point shooter (Mirza). Chicago is only missing Noah and still have Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol, Mike Dunleavy, Jimmy Butler, Brooklyn native Taj Gibson and others ready to go. Not looking good.

Probable Lineups

BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Alan Anderson (SG), Sergey Karasev (SF), Mason Plumlee (PF), Kevin Garnett (C)

CHI- Derrick Rose (PG), Jimmy Butler (SG), Mike Dunleavy (SF), Taj Gibson (PF), Pau Gasol (C)

Final Thoughts

A loss would drop the Nets’ record to 8-12 with two winnable games upcoming. But then the schedule gets rough again. That’s why, even though it’s slim, a win would be enormous, giving the Nets a chance to get back to .500. I’ll admit, that looks like a pipe dream.
