Maybe you will find hotel rooms on the cheap on Craig’s List. A story on CantonRep.com says Business owners expect fallout from loss of HOF Game. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced last Thursday that the Hall of Fame Game between the St. Louis Rams and the Chicago Bears on August 7 was cancelled. Even if the players ratified the new CBA Thursday, there would not have been enough time for the teams to sign all the free agents they wanted to fill out a roster and, you know, practice. Cancellation was the only way to go.
What a bummer for The Hangman. Retired Redskin linebacker Chris Hanburger, already recognized as one of the 70 Greratest Redskins, is set to be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. No game means fewer live crowds to see his big day.
Hanburger’s loss may be your gain. The CantonRep story says that hotels in the area demanded three-day minimum reservations for Hall of Fame weekend with a July 1 cancellation date. A lot of people stuck with those reservations may look to dump them if the hotels don’t let them out of the deal (as they should).
If the hotels in the Canton-Akron Ohio area do the right thing, then reservations that weekend could be had on the cheap. You can combine the ceremony for Hanburger with an excursion to LeBron James’ birthplace or to beautiful downtown Cleveland or something.
The Hall of Fame has been good to the Redskins of late. Art Monk, Darrell Green, Russ Grimm, Hanburger and former Redskin Deion Sanders.
Yes, I still clintch every orifice when I write “Redskin” and “Deion” in the same sentence.
