Washington Redskins linebacker Robert Henson, @mrHenson51, tweets that he was released by the Washington Redskins this morning. He tweeted it, about an hour ago. Once you had to wait for the “film at 11” to get news like this. Today you get it from the player at the moment.
Two hours ago, Henson tweeted: “Man I can’t wait to see all the #redskinfaithful today at Fan Appreciation, whoever follows me I’m taking pics wit ya!!”
And here’s the string of tweets he tweeted about an hour later:
“Just got released later Redskin faithful it’s been real!!”
“I’m motivated outta the ass right now I’m gonna bust my ass and when/if I ever come back on the other sideline beware”
“I just wanna thank coach Shanahan and staff for the opportunity and mainly wanna thank d Redskin fans for loyalty n support!”
With Twitter, you get to see follower response. Sometimes that means how other NFL players respond. Phillip Daniels tweeted: “Live in the moment and remember the every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you will never get back.” And later: “@Mr_Henson51 Heard the news man. Good luck and hit me if you need anything. Remember when one door closes another opens. Keep working hard.”
Henson noticed that his follower count was going down with the news. @InsaneBoost had this response: “@Mr_Henson51 I’ll follow you, always good times. However you know I have an obligation if you end up in Dallas to unfollow.” @dukes_inc harrumphed “@Mr_Henson51 band wagon followers…not real”
Henson was on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but said he was healthy and expected to join Monday’s practice.
You can get wrapped up in Twitter. Don’t Tweet and Drive going to Fan appreciation Day at Redskins Park today. Redskins.com has not yet posted the story of Henson’s release as of 9:55 a.m. EDT today.
