You doesn’t hasta call me Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III HOPEOne of the impressive things about Robert Griffin III is the professionalism he brings to…everything. We like that as Redskins fans because it shows the seriousness he brings to the role of savior of Redskins football.

The formality extends to his name. Griffin invariably refers to himself by his full name. That “RG3” moniker originated with someone else. It’s a slow Sunday before training camp, so we thought a little good-natured fun at RG3’s serious side was in order. With apologies to Ray J. Johnson, Jr., we present –

You doesn’t hasta call me Robert Griffin III

My name is Robert Griffin III, but you doesn’t hasta call me Mr. Robert Griffin III.
You can call me Rob,
or you can call me Bob,
or you can call me Bobby,
or you can call me Robby,
or you can call me Robbo,
or you can call me Robin,
or you can call me Bert,
but never call me Ernie,
that is not very funny,
or you can call me Trey,
or you can call me Tres,
or you can call me R-G-Three,
or you can call me RG,
or you can call me He,
or you can call me Hero,
or you can call me Griff,
or you can call me Griffy,
or you can call me Nifty,
or you can call me Shifty,
or you can call me Beasty,
but you doesn’t hasta call me Robert Griffin the Third.

Rookies report to training camp tomorrow. Griffin says he expects contract negotiations to resolve by then. I hope so, but Rich Tandler and Mike Florio say the hold-up is in the contract offset language.

Most years, contracts for the top Draft picks don’t resolve until after the No. 1 pick is settled. Everyone is waiting until Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts settle the matter. All will fall in line after that.

Owners are not supposed to collude on contracts. As we’ve seen, owners are quite clever about such things.

Veterans report to training camp Thursday, July 26. Then, it’s ON!
