Almost two weeks after losing to them by 39 points in Los Angeles, the Nets welcome Doc Rivers’ Clippers to Brooklyn for the first and only time this year as the home team tries to snap a four-game losing streak.
Back on January 22nd, the Clippers dominated Brooklyn 123-84, leading by more than 40 points for much of the second half. Since that game, the Nets haven’t won, losing to the Jazz, Hawks and Raptors. Brooklyn has now gone just 2-12 in its last 14 games, with the most recent–an overtime home defeat against Toronto–being the most crushing.
On the other hand, Los Angeles has been doing just fine since rolling over the Nets. The win was the third of an eventual six-game winning streak for the Clippers, who are now the No. 3 in the Western Conference. A loss to the Pelicans snapped the streak but the Clippers responded the next night with a win over the Spurs in San Antonio.
Probable Lineups
LAC- Chris Paul (PG), J.J. Redick (SG), Matt Barnes (SF), Blake Griffin (PF), DeAndre Jordan (C)
BKN- Jarrett Jack (PG), Alan Anderson (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Mason Plumlee (C)
Final Thoughts
LA is in the middle (fourth game out of eight) of a pretty long road trip with a brutal back-to-back against the Cavaliers and Raptors coming up later in the week while the Nets have been off since Friday and are wrapping up a quick homestand.
Struggling Brooklyn is nowhere near as talented as the Clippers but the circumstances surrounding this game favor the Nets and they need any possible help they can get right now. Also, with Deron Williams coming back from his injury tonight, Brooklyn might get a much-needed boost.
