Riding a two-game winning streak, the Nets are back in Brooklyn to play the hated crosstown Knicks at Barclays on Friday night. The game will be the Nets’ last home game in a little less than a month, as they start an eight-game extended road trip tomorrow in Washington, D.C. that bookends the All-Star break, which, conveniently, is in New York City this year. Here are some links to read up on before the game:
In Brooklyn’s win on Wednesday over the Raptors, a hard fourth quarter foul by Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan earned the swing man an ejection from the game. A day later, the dirty play earned him a major fine from the NBA. $15,000 is not a lot of money for DeRozan, who is making $9.5 million this season, but it’s certainly a message sent.
NBA announces that DeMar DeRozan has been fined $15,000 for making excessive contact with Bojan Bogdanovic of Nets late in Wednesday's game.

Less than a week after I brought him up as a possible target for the Nets, the recently waived Jordan Farmar is heading to Turkey. The former Net, Laker and Clipper played in Turkey for Anadolu Efes during the lockout a few years ago and is now signing with Darussafaka Dogus. With Deron Williams back and the team playing better, maybe the Nets don’t even need someone of Farmar’s ilk anymore.
Finally, the Orlando Magic have fired their head coach, former Net Jacque Vaughn, after 2.5 unsuccessful seasons at the helm of the team. The Magic have lost 10 games in a row and there have been people called for Vaughn’s head for what feels like years. That team isn’t great or anything but certainly has more talent than its 15-37 record indicates. Still, we wish Jacque Vaughn the best heading forward.
