When the Pelicans last played the Nets on February 25th, New Orleans didn’t have Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday or Ryan Anderson available. The Pelicans won that game 102-96 at home, in a game Brooklyn really needed to win. Now, Davis is back from injury but Tyreke Evans (ankle) is out, meaning the recently acquired Norris Cole will make his first start with the team.
Even with their recent rash of injuries, the Pelicans have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games and are sticking right with the No. 8 seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the fight for the Western Conference’s final playoff spot. New Orleans is just a half-game behind the Thunder, and with over a month left in the regular season, that battle is sure to be close and come down to the wire.
Meanwhile, the Nets are struggling mightily in their playoff push, having lost their last three games, all at home. Brooklyn, now 2.5 games out of a playoff spot, needs any way it can get, especially considering how well the other teams the Nets are competing with are playing right now.
Probable Lineups
NOP- Norris Cole (PG), Eric Gordon (SG), Quincy Pondexter (SF), Anthony Davis (PF), Omer Asik (C)
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Markel Brown (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Thaddeus Young (PF), Brook Lopez (C)
Final Thoughts
Not sure how the Nets can defend Anthony Davis, but other than that, the Pelicans aren’t the worst matchup for them. Still, this game is at the Barclays Center, which is never good for the home team.
