Yes, we are redefining what we mean by “good shape,” but we need to talk you off the ledge.
Hog Heaven figured the 2014 Redskins for eight wins. Every pundit called six to eight wins for the ‘Skins. We can’t blame a .500 club for playing .500 ball.
We never figured them to beat the Vikings. The Redskins have not beaten a Norv Turner team since the indignant way Dan Snyder fired him in 2000. Norv has cursed us. Yes, Hog Heaven is football superstitious.
I didn't see hardly any talk about Norv… Norv handled Haz #LikeABoss

The Deadskins and Viqueens moved up and down, mostly down, in division standings in unison since 2010. They meet with regularity — five consecutive times in that span. The ‘Skins are 1-4 against the Vikes. They will likely be on the 2015 schedule, too.
Sunday’s outcome was no surprise. Yet, seven or eight wins are still possible.
The Redskins were 3-6 in 2012 when Robert Griffin III put the team on his back and powered that seven-game win streak to the playoffs. The 2012 defense was worse than it is now. They were the 28th ranked D back then and they allowed 24.3 points per game. They are the 18th ranked defense now. They are the fourth-ranked offense in total yards, third-ranked in passing yards and 7.3 yards per pass attempt.
Bad day for the @redskins defense, 26 points should be enough to get you a win.

Hog Heaven figured the Texans and the Giants at home to be wins. We figured a sweep of the Cowboys when we and everyone else saw the ‘Boys as a fourth-place club. That sweep is still possible. The Giants have not resolved their issues. A win at the Meadowlands is not beyond reach. (One might question what either team has to play for late in the season.)
The 1-7 Buccaneers and the 3-5 Rams are on the schedule. The 4-4 49ers have locker room issues of their own. They are the better team. They do not look as formidable as they appeared preseason.
A run means the Redskins must beat the above teams and steal wins against the Colts and Eagles.
Norv Turner does not coach for any of those teams.
And that boy DJax….

The schedule sets up nicely if the Redskins stand up to it. Six to eight wins is within our grasp.
But we are Redskins fans. Anything less than a seven game run will feel like failure.
Take a deep breath and step away from the ledge.
