Last season was certainly one to forget for the Washington Redskins. After coming up well short of the playoffs, there are a lot of questions surrounding the franchise. The one most people can’t stop asking involves Robert Griffin III. He is no longer considered a young player, but he is regressing at quarterback. As we get ready for the new season, people in fantasy football 2015 are wondering if he can play like he did during his rookie year.
Washington fans are becoming increasingly skeptical when it comes to the comeback for Griffin. He has been seemingly banged up throughout his career, and he just has not progressed as a pocket passer like people thought he would. The coaching staff seems to be saying all the right things, and of course Griffin is focused on silencing the critics as they grow by the week.
As Griffin gets ready for his fourth season, he seems to be focused on doing what Jay Gruden wants in order to try to turn this team around. He has always had the eternal struggle of being a running or passing quarterback. Blessed with some of the best pure athleticism ever seen at the quarterback position in the NFL, he knows that running the ball too much will set him up for additional injury. That is why he has tried to become much more well rounded.
The Redskins are doing their part in helping Griffin bounce back, as they are showing a lot of confidence in the former Baylor star. Despite missing six games last year and struggling in the ones he played in, they have already named him the starter in 2015 and they picked up his 2016 option. For at least one more season, they are strong believers in his ability to get his quarterback ranking back above 100 at least (it was 102.4 during his rookie campaign).
In fantasy football 2015, it is best to hold off on picking Griffin very high at the beginning of the year. He is the classic case of wait and see. He still has all the physical talent to be a top 10 quarterback in the NFL, but production has certainly not matched up. Washington is giving him one more chance, so that at least counts for something.
