The Redskins are a better, but still heart wrenching team. Players are becoming accountable.
The coaches, well not quite all of them just yet.
Gruden admitting his horrific play calling was refreshing. His pitfall was forgetting about the extra size of the NFL field over an Arena Football field, calling the same bad plays over and over, and forgetting about the talents of ALL his players. The running game was incredibly predictable. The passing plays broke down to “just throw it Jamison Crowder,” and the Falcons at one point even TRIPLE teamed him.
Gruden needs to wake up to the fact that Rashad Ross and Jamison Crowder MUST be used deep to help open of the field and stop defenses from stacking up against the run. Defenses also have figured out that Lichtensteiger is the weak link in the chain and is an easy ticket into the backfield to blow up a running play. Perhaps Darrel Young could be used to help there instead of the same old third and short or fourth and short fast handoff to Young that everyone knows is coming when he is in the game in those situations.
(Hint – short screens to Young also does not work. Downfield throws to Young DO work).
