The Redskins’ Unstoppable Four-Receiver Combination

You would be hard-pressed to find better NFL betting picks than the Redskins’ Platoon of Pass catchers. Names like Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder are all but guaranteed to play crucial roles in the team’s offense.

This is such a powerful group that it is difficult to believe they only constitute a portion of Washington’s aerial firepower. There are very few names among the league’s top tight ends capable of contending with Jordan Reed, this not taking into account players like Vernon Davis and Logan Paulsen, and the contributions they can be expected to make.

Former Redskins GM Charley Casserly wasn’t lying when he called Jackson (30 catches for 528 yards last year), Reed (87 Catches for 952 yards last year), Garcon (72 catches for 777 yards last year) and Doctson (the best receiver in the 2016 draft class) one of the best four-receiver combination in the NFL. Reed’s all team-high performance last year was something to behold.

Admittedly, the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals and the Carolina Panthers have all made strong cases with regards to their ability to bring the Redskins’ four-receiver combination down.

Houston, much like Washington, has also introduced a first-round pick into a powerful group of receivers while the Texans added Will Fuller, a renowned Notre Dame Star, to a collection of notable players including DeAndre Hopkins, Cecil Shorts, and Jaelen Strong. With Brock Osweiler offering stability as a quarterback, the Texans are confident in their ability to overcome previous weaknesses, especially with tight ends like C.J. Fiedorowicz and Ryan Griffin.

As maligned as Carolina was for their receiving corps when they first entered the 2015 season, the injection of Cam Newton into the equation added much-needed versatility to the team.

The panthers have already shown what they can do with the likes of Greg Olsen, Ted Ginn Jr., Jerricho Cotchery and Philly Brown; with Gin, Funchess and Benjamin in play, Cotchery’s absence will not hurt the Panthers.

Anyone keeping a close eye on Michael Floyd, John Brown and Larry Fitzgerald, these 800-yard receivers complimented by tight ends like Darren Fells and J.J. Nelson, might be surprised by the strength of running back David Johnson’s contribution in 2016.

It’s not quite the same look, but the Cardinals are bringing a formidable team to the table. This isn’t even taking into account strong contenders like the New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, and the Denver Broncos, each of whom should prove to be a worthy opponent.

The Redskins have every reason to feel confident. Crowder made waves last year with 59catches for 604yards. David led the league as the best pass-catching tight end around, putting many of his predecessors to shame.

Paul’s season in 2014 was impressive, his 39passes for 507yards and a single touchdown earning him some love before an injury put him out of commission in 2015.

Most analysts will tell you that there is no concrete method of measuring the best group. There are simply too many arguments that could be made for the Redskins, Panthers, and the Cardinals because of their wildly impressive receiver groups. Yet, as Casserly pointed out, Washington’s four-man group is the best in the NFL at the moment, and it will devastate many opposing defenses.
