7 Things leading up to the game on Sunday
2) A strange national vibe. One thing I noticed in some of the national coverage of the Colts, and some of my conversations with my writer friends/colleagues as they rolled through Terre Haute and Indianapolis in recent weeks, was that a lot of people tend to think the Colts will take a dip this season. Why? Well, just because. What I mean is this: at least one national writer said he figured the Colts might not make the playoffs just because of percantages — i.e., they’ve made it seven consecutive seasons, so the odds eventually catch up. On some level, I get that sort of reasoning from a national perspective, but being close to the team, I just don’t see a huge dropoff right now. As mentioned previously, there are a few concerns that if they bubble up could be disastrous, particularly if the offensive line can’t stay healthy, but beyond that, the formula the Colts have used for nearly a decade is pretty much in place.
