1. Jerraud Powers is a real find. The Colts have missed on third-round draft selections often in recent seasons, but it’s becoming apparent they didn’t miss this season. Powers, a third-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft from Auburn University, started at corner Sunday with five-year veteran and 2005 first-round draft selection Marlin Jackson returning from a knee injury. As he did throughout the preseason, Powers made plays. He defensed two passes, showing rare closing speed on one pass into the end zone. Jackson is playing nickel because the Colts don’t want to wear his knee down quickly while he returns, but as well as Powers is playing, you wonder if the Colts will move him or leave Jackson at nickel long-term. “(I had) a lot of jitters in warm-ups,” Powers said. “Coming through that tunnel, I had to calm myself down and make sure I played everything smooth.”
