You know what time it is. It’s U$C week, and you’re reading Subway Domer… It’s the Anti-Preview motherfuckers. And speaking of mothers- this is the mother of all Irish games this season. Win this game, and Notre Dame can carve out a new legacy for itself and silence the critics while charging up in the polls. Lose, and it’s the same old, same old- no matter how close of a game.
So what’s riding on this game? Let’s see… The weekly Charlie Weis hotseat, recruiting (the visit list is a who’s who in recruiting), the Heisman, poll position, BCS game. Everything is riding in this basket. The U$C basket.
U$C. There is really not much to say about U$C that hasn’t been said by the media and ESPN in particular. They love to stroke these bastards off. Lose to a mediocre team once a year, and they would bury the program- not $C. Somehow, winning one BCS Title is grounds for a Dynasty. Go ahead and point to the Rose Bowl games they won, and I’ll show you that they played the 2nd best team from the Big Integer most of the time.
However, U$C is a good football team with what will be the best defense that Notre Dame will see all year. The Trojan ground game is explosive, even without Stafon Johnson (whom will provide that emotional spark for this weekend). The Trojans save their best game of the regular season for Notre Dame every year. Pete Carroll will not allow his team to overlook the Irish, even when ND is just fucking awful.
Alright people. This is where The Subway Domer just learned an important and painful lesson. It is 3:30 Friday morning. My fucking computer fried out for a moment and I lost what was the rest of this post. I was literally one more paragraph away from finishing this thing, then I opened up a new tab, and then I checked out the message board at Irish Illustrated. FRIED. Thanks II. Thanks Dell. Thanks.
