Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish received their 10th commitment for the 2011 class from Florida LB/DE Clay Burton. Burton is a 6’3″, 230 pound beast from Venice Florida. We have to love the fact that Tony Alford is cementing himself as a legitimate recruiter in the state of Florida. Alford went in there and convinced a guy from the other side of the ball to come to ND over the likes of BC, Cinci, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, LSU, Stanford and Tennessee amongst many others.
After visiting the Irish this past week, it was time for Burton to end his commitment. He is rated as a 3 and 4 star defensive end amongst the recruiting sites and projects well as an outside linebacker or defensive end in the 3-4 defense. Its great to see coach Kelly get back on the recruiting horse with this commitment as it has been awhile since the last one. In whats normally a quiet time for commitments, its awesome to see Burton commit to the Irish.
Welcome aboard Clay!
