Welcome back to Bagpipe Monday. Busy, busy, busy, around the Royal Grounds of your Emperor, the Subway Domer. Personal affairs are the ones that take the most time to deal with, and I must admit that a break from the constant stream of bullshit information, and hearsay rumors of recruiting has been a nice stroll down a path of sanity that I have not seen in quite some time.
Sanity. That word, and definition, is foriegn to Irish fans all over the country. We mock other programs for arrests of their players, falls from grace, and poor graduation rates. And while these are valid mockeries, the rest of the country looks upon us like we are the fucking Amish.
What has my tits all twisted up and bleeding? The over-reaction by a large portion of the Notre Dame fanbase, in regards to a few comments made about jumbotrons and fieldturf with the former having the most vitriol.
I am a traditionalist at heart, but a traditionalist that gives favor to traditions that have true meaning and purpose, and not those that ring hollow within my own thoughts and the progression of the world. Frankly, I am unbound by any passion on the matter of jumbotrons or fieldturf, but I do cringe at the reactions of others. Not their opinions, but their reactions.
Whether you are pro-jumbotron or anti-jumbotron, the opinion makes little difference upon me- just be careful on how you word your responses. The program looks to be on a massive upswing, and the addition of things such as fieldturf and jumbotrons would neither “make” or “break” the program.
So chill out. After all; the only tradition worth fighting for, is the tradition of winning.
Don’t forget to vote in this weeks poll, and enjoy a break from tradition as you watch this lil’ video:
