The #NotreDame–#USC football game on Oct. 22 will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern – the first home night game for the Irish in 21 years.
Swarbrick:”We think it is important to occasionally use the platform of a prime-time game to promote the university & our football program.”
After 21 years, Notre Dame is finally going to use their permanent stadium lighting for something other than for the 4th quarter of a late season game, or overtime. Notre Dame and USC will play under the lights in South Bend, on October 22 in PRIME TIME.
If you look at Notre Dame’s games the past few years, you will notice a trend. Most of the away games are played at night. Why? Because Notre Dame is always a big ratings draw across the country- that’s why?
Personally, I get tired of having to wait all day to watch the Irish play, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t want one or two home games to be played under the lights.
Night games have an atmosphere like no other, and for whatever reason you wish to use, when it is a BIG game played at night, it is just better.
Notre Dame Stadium is in need of a massive enema or steroid shot (depending on who you ask), and when your biggest rival comes to town a year after losing to you at their house… well, that’s when you break out all of the weaponry in your arsenal.
I’m pumped, and I have already placed my soul up for bid on eBay to finance my trip up there for the game.
