There has been quite a bit of build up for Notre Dame football heading into fall camp. No, not because the Irish are a top 10 team looking to make a run at a national championship- although that would be pretty nice. No, once again the Irish are looking for a quarterback to start the season. Even though Dayne Crist technically started the 2011 season as the starter, I think it would be a fair statement to say that this season will see its 3rd different starter in as many years.
If you wanted to know why the media has been focusing almost exclusively on that position battle- the situation ND has put themselves in for these past 3 years is why.
At any rate, the opening presser was as showstopping as a game of tic-tac-toe at the Olympics. It was pretty basic, very narrow, and you got the sense that Kelly just wanted to get the presser over with and get his hands on the team. I’m totally OK with that. In fact, the best info I got from the presser was:
- KeiVarae Russell moving to CB.
- Davonte Neal will wear #19.
- Team is pretty healthy outside of Collinsworth.
- Kelly backed off of his fieldturf statement from the day prior (TROLL SO HARD BK!)
Everything else just seemed like fluff to me. I’m betting that there will be some delicious treats ahead- but not today. Today was just to say, “My name is The Subway Domer & I’m addicted to Notre Dame Football. Please, tell me more.”
Soon.
