One of the most Notre Damey things to do, is to take forever to announce any new hire of any type. Yes, this goes back to the George O’Leary fiasco. So, today Notre Dame finally let the world know what the world already knew- Mike Stanford, Autry Denson, Todd Lyght, and Keith Gilmore are the new assistant coach hires.

There will also be even more off the field positions that will be announced- well… sometime between now and then.
Blue-Gold Game Details
After quite a few weeks of wondering, here is what we we will have for the annual Blue-Gold spring game:
- It will be at the LaBarr practice field.
- There will be about 3000 people.
- Look for your invite in the mail.
That’s right. The spring game will be by “invite only.” Now, before you go (if you already haven’t) into some type of rage rampage over this “elitist” maneuver, please keep in mind that this was the only smart way to go about it all.
Notre Dame looked into possible other venues such as Lucas oil and Soldier Field, but those weren’t available. If they wanted to use the weekend for any type of recruiting (as it is usually a big recruiting weekend) Notre Dame could not have contact with a recruit while at an off campus site such as those. So, now they want to keep it on campus, but logistically, there was absolutely no way to accommodate 20,000 to 30,000 possible visitors. Instead of just saying “no spring game this year” and just using it up as practice time, ND will use it to still have some type of scrimmage with a select number of people.
It’s no big deal, really. The “game” may still be broadcast on TV as Notre Dame has not ruled that out. Personally, the spring game generally only gives false promises and hidden tactics. The lack of spectacle may not be such a bad thing.
