Some of the AAC Football Fever staff members have been hand selected to give their weekly picks for each American Athletic Conference game.
Blake Lovell, Mitch Wilcox, Jay Saunders, John Nestor, Zach Rastall, Al Burke, and Michael Compton will test their knowledge by contesting me each and every week for bragging rights (and maybe a gratifying pat on the back) at the end of the season.
We went over last week’s minuscule four-game schedule in Monday’s staff AAC power rankings, so there’s no need to dwell on what was a collective snoozer of a weekend for The American.
Week 7 looks much more promising, however, with a Thursday night duel between BYU (albeit no Taysom Hill, which is unfortunate), a rare Cincinnati-to-Miami, Fla. road trip for the Bearcats (though Gunner Kiel’s playing status isn’t looking particularly good at the moment), and a contest between No. 19 East Carolina and South Florida that has no allure outside of some ill-advised smack talk.
