First period: The Flyers coming into this game with their heads high after a rough weekend losing both games. It was a slow first period by the Flyers and was definitely filled with penalties as was the entire game. Rickard Rakell opens the scoring with a power play goal assisted by Perry. Just over five minutes later, Rakell gets another one past Mason for his second goal of the game. It was a slow period for the Flyers, only getting 5 shots on net.
Second period: The second period was not any better for the Flyers. Nick Schultz hooked Chris Stewart on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot. Of course, Stewart scored and made it 3-0 in favor of the Ducks. You could argue this goal was Mason’s fault, but it was a penalty shot. The period was filled with Penalties. The Flyers took 4 hooking penalties this period and Brandon Manning got into a fight with Patrick Maroon. Another slow period by the Flyers.
Third period: The Flyers were given a power play 13 minutes into the period and Wayne Simmonds get the Flyers their first goal and stays hot with his 19th goal of the season assisted by Claude Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere. Their late period heroics wouldn’t be enough, as Andrew Cogliano scores his 6th of the year with just a minute remaining in the game and that would seal the game. The Flyers will lose this game 4-1 and it was definitely an embarrassment, because we all know what the Flyers are capable of, and they just did not show up tonight.
