The Phillies, fresh off a victory against the University of Tampa, will open Grapefruit League play Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Severino Gonzalez will get the call according to Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Severino Gonzalez will start Tuesday's Grapefruit League opener against Toronto.

Gonzalez, 23, made his Major League debut in 2015 going 3-3 with a 7.29 ERA while appearing in seven games. The right hander from Panama is fighting to be a part of the starting pitching conversation as offseason acquisitions have effectively pushed him off of the Major League roster. Gonzalez is unlikely to break camp with the Phillies in 2016 but will likely see time as a spot starter or a mid-season call up, especially if Philadelphia decides to sell off their veteran pitchers as the trade deadline nears. Severino Gonzalez will be opposed by Marcus Stroman (4-4, 1.67 ERA in 2015).
