This is the first entry in our second annual TFDS “Mocking the Draft” project, and it just happens to be a mock draft that I put together. Last year, I managed to get a whopping TWO correct. Go me!

We will also have extensive draft day coverage here at TFDS, with LDizzle and I covering the draft party at Ricky’s on Saturday, whilst Rob will be providing continuing updates throughout the day.
The other day I looked at six teams ahead of the Oakland Raiders, and speculated on who they would pick and what effect that would have on the seventh pick. Now its time for the full one round mock, and I will revisit this after the draft to see how well I did with my prognostications.
1 Detroit Lions: Jason Smith OT Baylor
The Lions use the lesson of Joey Harrington and forgo the quarterback until they can protect him.
2 St Louis Rams: Eugene Monroe OT Virginia
The Rams need to replace Orlando Pace. Those are huge shoes to fill, and Monroe is a huge guy.
3. Kansas City Chiefs: Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest
The Chiefs are switching to a 3-4 defense, and are in need of linebackers. It helps that Curry is considered the best player in the draft.
4. Seattle Seahawks: Michael Oher OT
Walter Jones is not getting any younger, and Oher will get to learn from one of the best.
5. Cleveland Browns: Brian Orapko DE/LB Texas
The Browns will use him as their pass rushing 3-4 linebacker.
6. Cincinatti Bengals: Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
The Bengals lost Houshmazadeh, and Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson is a chronic irritation.
7. Oakland Raiders: B.J. Raji DT Boston College
The Raiders have needed an upgrade at defensive tackle for years. Al Davis pulls the trigger on Raji despite the rumors.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
The Jerry Porter experiment failed miserably, and the Jags need a threat at wideout. With Crabtree off the board, they get Maclin.
9. Green Bay Packers: Everette Brown DE Florida State
The Pack need to upgrade their pass rush, and Brown will give them a threat off the edge.
10 San Francisco 49ers: Mark Sanchez QB USC
Alex Smith is a bust, and whilst Shaun Hill has become a fan favorite, Singletary brings in a new signal caller to breathe new life into the Niners offense.
11. Buffalo Bills: Aaron Maybin DE/LB Penn State
The Bills need a defensive end. Maybin is the best on the board at this point, despite being better suited as a pass rushing 3-4 LB.
12 Denver Broncos: Matt Stafford QB Georgia
The Broncos sent their Pro Bowl franchise quarterback packing. They need a new franchise
13 Washington Redskins: Andre Smith OT Alabama
The ‘Skins were once upon a time known for having an awesome offensive line. They take a chance on Smith trying to recreate the Hogs.
14 New Orleans Saints: Vontae Davis CB Illinois
The Saints need secondary help, and Malcom Jenkins had one of the worst combines in history. They take Davis.
15 Houston Texans: Brian Cushing LB USC
The Texans reinforce their front seven by getting a stud linebacker from USC.
16 San Diego Chargers: Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland
This is a bit of a reach, but they grab a deep threat to go with Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson.
17 New York Jets: Percy Harvin WR Florida
The Jets replace their small but fast Lavernius Coles with small but fast Percy Harvin.
18 Denver Broncos: James Laurinitis LB Ohio State
The Broncos are moving to a 34 defense, and they need linebackers to make that conversion.
19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Josh Freeman QB Kansas State
With Jon Gruden’s departure, the Buccs will no longer be collecting quarterbacks. They want to have one QB to be the face of the franchise.
20 Detroit Lions:Rey Maualuga LB USC
Adding Maualuga to Julian Peterson and Ernie Sims gives the Lions a scary good linebacking corps.
21 Philadelphia Eagles: Malcom Jenkins DB Ohio State
Jenkins’s fall from grace ends with the Eagles who need to replcae Brian Dawkins.
22 Minnesota Vikings: Hakeem Nicks WR UNC
The Vikings need an offensive threat not named Adrain Peterson.
23 New England Patriots: Robert Ayres DE Tennessee
The Patriots defensive success has been built on their front seven. Ayres will be a great fit.
24 Atlanta Falcons: Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma State
The Falcons have not had a reliable tight end since Alge Crumpler.
25 Miami Dolphins: Clay Matthews OLB USC
Bill Parcells loves to build his defenses, and Matthews is going to be solid for them.
26 Baltimore Ravens: Brian Robiske WR Ohio State
The Ravens need to get Joe Flacco a reliable target.
27 Indianapolis Colts: Peria Jerry DT Ole Miss
The Colts have had issuse against the run, and Jerry will be a force in the middle of their line.
28 Philadelphia Eagles: Ebin Britton OT Arizona
Andy Reid loves his offensive linemen.
29 New York Giants: Kenny Britt WR Rutgers
The Giants need to replace Plaxico Burress. Once they lost him, they weren’t the same.
30 Tennessee Titans: Alex Mack C California
Mack will upgrade the middle of the Titans’ line quite nicely.
31 Arizona Cardinals: Chris Wells RB Ohio State
The Cards came close to winning it all last year. Adding a threat to run the ball could put them over the top.
32 Pittsburgh Steelers:Victor Harris DB Virginia Tech
The Steelers have a hole in their secondary after losing Bryant McFadden. Harris fills it.
