Raiders sign 2nd round pick Mitchell

According to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Raiders have agreed to terms with second-round draft pick Mike Mitchell. Just in time for camp.

He sites several sources close to the deal which is usually how this information must be obtained because the Raiders sure aren’t going to announce it.

Accoring to said sources, Mitchell was given a four-year deal. No specific terms of the deal are available yet.

Third round pick, DE Matt Shaughnessy, was signed a couple days ago preceded by sixth round pick, tight end Brandon Myers. The Raiders didn’t have fifth or seventh rounders and cut their other sixth round selection, Stryker Sulak, last week.

That just leaves No. 7 overall pick Darrius Heyward-Bey and fourth-rounder Louis Murphy as the lone unsigned draftees.

And with camp starting today, unless the deals have not been leaked (which is entirely possible) or they sign at the 11th hour, one or both of them could miss some time in camp. Murphy is most likely to sign before camp because for one, he was a 4th rounder and for another, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is known for having his clients into camp on time.

Heyward-Bey on the othe hand, is represented by Tom Condon who is fresh from getting monster deals for Nnamdi Asomugha and Shane Lechler and could look to dig a little bit deeper into Al Davis’ pockets.
