Running back Justin Fargas and defensive tackle Gerard Warren are expected to be cut in the coming days due to each player having roster bonuses owed. This according to Profootballtalk.com.
Justin Fargas has been the Raiders’ most consistant runner over the past few years. He was the Raiders leading rusher in 2006, 2007, and 2008. In ’07 he rushed for over 1000 yards. However, he has had a career beset with injuries and he just turned 30, which is considered a wall for running backs, at which point their production begins to fall rapidly.
“Crash Test Dummy” has been popular with this teammates and is a two-time winner of the Raiders’ commitment to excellence award. If he doesn’t get much action on the open market, he could be brought back into the fold.
Gerard Warren’s release will save the Raiders from paying him a one million dollar roster bonus. The Raiders acquired him from the Broncos for a fifth round pick in 2007. He had 10 sacks over the three years he was a Raider and has been weak against the run.
