Former Raider safety Gibril Wilson was released from the Miami Dolphins today. Wilson was a member of the Raiders’ failed free agent class of 2008.
Wilson, along with Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall were brought in during the 2008 offseason, each receiving astronomical contracts. Hall was cut after eight games. Wilson was cut at the end of the season. Walker is still with the team, but languished the entire season on the bench, only dressing for three games.
The Raiders got better production from Tyvon Branch at the safety position, who is on a forth round pick contract. The Raiders are also expecting big things from Mike Mitchell. Don’t expect them to bring back Gibril.
