The Oakland Raiders had their single session today in full pads. They did hit, but tackling to the ground and cut blocking were no-nos. The defensive front stepped to the fore and had their best practice session to date. The offense had an off day, but this is not a reason topush the panic button yet.
The highlight of the day was the first fight of camp when Lamarr Houston took exception with Brandon Myers’s block and took him down in retribution. After practice, Houston downplayed the incident saying, “that is just football.”
Houston has widely been expected to lead the team in camp scuffles because of the fire he plays with.
- Darrius Heyward-Bey was held out of practice, Cable said it was just resting.
- Luke Lawton woke up with a headache which initiates the concussion testing sequence.
- Manase Tonga (Knee) and Marcel Reece (foot) did not practice.
- Trevor Scott got the wind knocked out of him during practice, but is fine.
- Louis Murphy and Chaz Schilens were both full go, and had returned from their injuries.
- Zach Miller had an uncharistically bad practice, he had three drops.
- Defensive lineman Alex Daniels lined up at fullback since there few options available.
- For most of practice the defensive line was in the backfield. There were many times the quarterback would have been sacked, or had to pull the ball down, or made bad throws because of pressure.
- Michael Huff had a clean interception where he stepped in front of Todd Watkins.
Stay tuned for Levi’s wrap up later tonight, and I will be on the field tweeting tomorrow morning at 8:30am.
