Oakland Raider legend Art Shell can add yet another honor to his already impressive trophy case from his career as an offensive tackle and head coach for the Silver and Black.He has been named for induction into the Black college football Hall of Fame as part of the second class ever.
Art Shell played for the Raiders from 1968-1972 where he earned his honor in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well as the NFL’s 75th anniversary all time team. In 1983 he moved to the sidelines where he worked as an assistant coach until he was tapped for the top job in 1990. He held that position until ’94. He also returned for an ill-fated season as head coach in ’06.
Joining Shell in this induction class will be: Lem Barney, Mel Blount, Roosevelt “Rosie” Brown, Willie Davis, “Bullet” Bob Hayes, Joe “Tarzan” Kendall, Doug Williams, Earl Banks, Willie Jefferies, and Collie Nicholson.
